Fender Precision bass pickguards!
Many would argue that the 1957 Fender Precision Bass was the ultimate bass guitar design. Much like the original Land Rover, the model was so carefully tuned and researched that once released, the design had no need to evolve- indeed, a glance at most online guitar stores will tell you that even today the design is sold almost completely unchanged, with different colours and headstock shapes between brands the only visible evolution from Leo Fender’s original design. There are countless recordings, producers and players who will attest to how that unmistakable bass tone is just the right tool for the job, every time. You could even argue that any bassline ever recorded on any other bass could be re-recorded with a P-Bass, and still sound fantastic.
Our favourite part about the P-Bass’s design though is the big blank canvas of it’s huge scratchplate. This pickguard covers a large surface area on the front of the bass, so when you consider the vibe you want to give off onstage (or, these days, let’s face it- on Instagram), you have to pick the right one! As a classic design, our favourite pickguards for P-Basses of any colour, are 3-ply aged white, 3ply black/cream, anodised gold, and 4ply celluloid red or brown tort. Any of those materials will look fantastic on any p-bass, no matter which colour it is!
There’s still plenty of scope for you to express yourself with your own choice of custom precision bass pickguard material- here’s a selection from our archives:

As always, you can see tonnes more photos of our previous guards on our instagram
We can of course modify your new guard too; perhaps you’d prefer a ‘reverse p’ config, or a MusicMan pickup instead of the stock one? Or maybe you want to do away with the tone control and just have a volume instead- or maybe even nothing at all?
